<p>Impermeable covers for wounds or sores are made from thin flexible film with integral cuffs or collars of or including elastic material to exclude penetration of the ends of the covers by water. The covers enable patients to bathe or swim without risk of receiving or causing infection. The covers may be shaped to suit various parts of the body, with elastic cuffs or bands as appropriate, e.g. one opening for a mitten or sock, a tubular form for protecting and intermediate link, further openings if the cover takes the form of a pair of shorts, a singlet, a tunic or leotard, etc. The covers may be transparent or translucent, may be a latex or an (extensible) thermoplastic material.</p> |
