<p>A compsn. for removing paint comprises a mixt. of potash lye, 95 degree modified alcohol or the like and water, the amt. of potash lye and alcohol being 15-30 wt% respectively. The compsn. can remove both fresh and old paints. It is free from volatile prods. and does not attack supports such as wood or metals. It is partic. useful for removing paint compsns. contg. Pb or Hg, partic. the so-called "Ceruse" paints. It only needs one application to attack several layer of paint without partic. supervision or treatment of small surfaces. To improve adherence of the prod. on the substrate to be treated, 3.5% amylaceous ether which swells in cold water is added to the compsn.</p> |
