In a method for manipulating film in a race finish camera, or in a race finish camera for carrying out the method, the aim is to reduce the consumption of the expensive film material. For this purpose, the race finish camera (1) is equipped with a removable storage chamber (11) for accommodating exposed film sections (17) from taking strips (15) and feed strips (16), and a shearing device (10) is arranged just behind the film exposing field (6) and in front of an inlet slit (13), which can be sealed in a light-tight fashion, of the storage chamber (11). The storage chamber (11) thus charged can be transferred away from the race finish camera (1) into a developing station (18). It is expedient to design the exchangeable film cassette (2) for the feed supply spool of the film (3) and the storage chamber (11) to be mutually exchangeable, and to equip them with feed channels (12), projecting far into the race finish camera (1), for guiding the film in the vicinity of the exposing field (6). <IMAGE>
