PURPOSE:To restore the sharpness of a polishing cloth wheel, wherein pieces of polishing cloth are implanted in radially in a flange, when the sharpness of the polishing cloth wheel becomes dull, by rotating the polishing cloth wheel in a direction reverse to that when it was polishing a work, and pressing the perriphery of the cloth to a grinding stone. CONSTITUTION:To dress the polishing cloth wheel, a grinding stone attaching jig 16 having a dressing grinding stone 15 mounted thereto is secured on a table 14. The polishing cloth wheel is rotated in a direction reverse to that when it was grinding the work 13, and it is dressed in such a way that base materials 11a of the polishing cloch 11a engages first with the grinding stone 15. In other words, the position of the X direction of the grinding stone 15 is fixed, and the polishing cloth wheel is rotated in the Y direction. Alternatively after a feed for cutting is given, the table 14 may be fed in the X direction to carry out the dressing. In this manner, the sharpness of the polishing cloth wheel can be restored, and the polishing performance can be improved. |
