The patent application relates to a device for infrared suppression for aircraft, especially helicopters, in the case of which at least one engine, which is arranged on or in the upper fuselage region, especially a gas-turbine engine, is arranged such that the exhaust jet is deflected essentially downwards via a tubular elbow, this tubular elbow being constructed at the end as a petal-shaped mixer and being able to suck in environmental air in the form of an ejector, the mixture of the engine exhaust and the ejector air being supplied to a mixing tube, which likewise points downwards and to which an outlet chute is connected by means of which the mixture of air and gas is deflected essentially to the rear in order to produce propulsion thrust, hot parts or parts which carry hot gas being screened from the environment by the aircraft structure and precautions being taken by means of which environmental air can be supplied for film cooling on the engine and structure side and for heat screening.
