A bottle crate having a high degree of stability and insensitivity to impact is provided by the combination of the following features: a) use of two central rows of honeycombed inner walls which are of irregular design but are mutually identical and are arranged symmetrically to the longer centre line of the crate and partially intersect said centre line, the inner walls consisting of four longer and two shorter walls, three longer walls of which being attached to one another and being separated from the fourth longer wall by the shorter walls attached on both sides of said wall, one shorter and one longer wall forming a common wall with the adjacent honeycomb of the adjacent row of honeycombs, b) structure of the longitudinal side walls by alternation of hollow columns with single-wall parts, c) arrangement of the hollow columns of the longitudinal side walls at all the points at which the inner walls merge into the longitudinal side walls, d) cross-sectional design of the hollow columns with two sloping surfaces or two surfaces in the form of cylindrical parts, of which in each case one surface faces a bottle compartment and forms the wall thereof.
