The present invention relates to the field of hydrometallurgy and, in particular, to a process for extracting metals from aqueous solutions and suspensions. The process for extracting metals from aqueous solutions and suspensions consists in the extraction of metals from aqueous solutions and suspensions being carried out with an extractant which is introduced into a granular, porous support material as which, according to the invention, a porous copolymer from styrene and 20-40% by weight of divinylbenzene, having an average pore diameter of 100-500 ANGSTROM is used which contains hydrophilic functional groups in an amount of 0.15-0.5 mVal/g, based on the support material. The process according to the invention can be used for extracting metals from ore suspensions, spent electrolyte solutions, rinsing and etching solutions and others.
