A ski-like runner is represented in the invention by a revolving creeper band. The sliding surface (friction against underlying surface) is replaced by a largely low-resistance tread plane. The rolling runner replaces the known runners in all examples of use where they previously could only be used on an underlying surface which could be slid on, such as snow, ice, sand or water. Vehicles which were partly or completely equipped with runners are converted using rolling runners into cross-country vehicles, for example snowmobiles, which without a rolling runner can only be operated in winter and with a rolling runner can also be used in summer. Steps and obstacles can be climbed over.
