An electric portable percussion drill contains an electric drive motor whose direction of rotation is reversible. Via a rotary drive device, the motor is coupled to a driving means acting in one direction and having a drill chuck, and the driving means enables the motor rotation to be transmitted by the rotary drive device to the drill chuck in one direction of rotation of the motor but not in the other direction of rotation. A percussion mechanism converts the rotation of the motor into a movement of an element for applying percussion blows to a tool located in the drill chuck.
