This relates to a supporting device for a support (2) to be used in building, serving for vertically supporting a ceiling shuttering from below and for this purpose possessing a post- or rod-like main element (3). The latter extends, in the use position, between the ceiling shuttering and the underlying floor. The supporting device (7) is formed by a multiple-leg arrangement (7) capable of being fastened detachably to the main element (3) and possessing, at its upper end, a holding device (8) for the main element (3). Supporting legs (9, 10, 11) branch off from the holding device (8) obliquely outwards towards the lower end. <IMAGE>
