A machine (1) for deburring the borders (2) of metal sheets (3) or the like has rotating wire brushes (4 and 5), there being provided in the advancement direction of the workpieces (3), in the region of at least one longitudinal side of said workpieces (3), a plurality of brushes (4 and 5) located one beside the other and driven in opposite directions. Said brushes (4 and 5) which can rotate in opposite directions are arranged on a common shaft (11, 28, 29, 34, 47, 64) or spindle running parallel to the advancement direction (arrow 1) and adjacent brushes (4 and 5) have directions of rotation which are set in opposite directions via reversing wheels, intermediate gears or the like. As a result, the two edges of a metal-sheet border are acted upon sufficiently strongly in a single operation by the brushes (4 and 5) rotating against said edges in each case, with the result that, in order to debur such a workpiece, the latter need not be turned round. Furthermore, this arrangement permits the entire row of brushes to be driven by means of one or two drive motors, it being possible for the brush row to be of any length. <IMAGE>
