PURPOSE:To improve the charging efficiency during the high speed and high load operation of an engine by connecting a sliding vlave proviced at the branch path of a helical type suction port to a hydraulic oil source through a transfer valve actuated corresponding to the intake air volume and by utilizing the pressure of the lubricant oil to control the opening or closing of the branch path. CONSTITUTION:During the low speed and low load operation of an engine when the intake air volume is small, a solenoid closing valve 36 is closed because the solenoid is de-energized. At this time, the lubricant oil in an operating hydraulic oil chamber 30 is gradually flown out, thus lowering a piston 22, then a valve body 20 cuts off a branch path 14, and the air-fuel mixture fed into an inlet passage section A flows into a combustion chamber turning along an upper wall face 13 and generates an eddy current. During the high speed and high load operation when the intake air volume is large, a solenoid valve 36 is opened because the solenoid is energized, and the pressure lubricant oil flows into the operating hydraulic oil chamber 30, raising the piston 22 then the valve body 20 to open the branch path 14. A part of the air-fuel mixture fed into the inlet passage section A is fed into a volute section B through the branch path 14, and a large amount of air is sucked into the volute section B due to the pressure difference with the air-fuel mixture proceeding along the upper wall face 13. |
