The centralised lubrication system is used to lubricate high-speed chains, in particular for escalators and moving walkways, and chain conveyors of various designs and has a continuously operating pump, a feed line and a number of lubricant distributors dependent on the number of lubrication points. These distributors can be controlled by means of a solenoid valve which can be switched on by a contactless control sensor which detects the path of motion of the chain. In order to be able to provide the full working pressure required for lubrication immediately on demand, irrespective of the pump output, the quantity of lubricant delivered by the pump (1) during delivery strokes is fed to an accumulator (3). Arranged between the accumulator (3) and the lubricant distributors (9) is a 3/2-way solenoid valve (5). The pump (1) thus no longer acts directly, via the main line (10), on the lubricant distributor (9) but initially on the accumulator (3), in which the oil volume required for lubrication is pressurised. It is available immediately at any time from there, irrespective of the type of pressure source. <IMAGE>
