PURPOSE:To make it possible to cover continuously the region of the heat exchanger extending from the upper surface of a pipe plate up to the inner surface of each of metallic pipes with an anticorrosive glass layer with a minimum of deformations of the pipes and the pipe plate by a method wherein the metallic pipes each lined internally with a glass pipe are welded to the metallic pipe plate and then only the pipe plate and the welded sections are heated locally. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of the metallic pipe 1 is pickled and an underlying glass layer 2 is deposited over the inner surface of the pipe to a depth of about 150mm. from the end of the pipe 1. Then the glass pipe 3 whose outer diameter is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe 1 and whose both ends are sealed is inserted into the pipe 1 in such a manner that each end of the glass pipe 3 is supported concentrically with the pipe 1 by a cap 4 through a central concave section of the latter. After that, the entire assembly is heated so that the glass pipe 3 is softened and expanded due to the internal pressure to thereby cover continuously the internal surface of the pipe 1. Further, the welded section 9 of the pipe plate 8 and the pipe 1 is annealed by heating same in a furnace 7 and the entier region extending from the pipe plate 8 up to the terminating end of the underlying glass layer 11 via the welded section 9 is lined continuously with the glass layer 12. |
