The invention relates to a process and a device for forming handles on ceramic vessels in the plastic state. By contrast with the processes and devices hitherto, in which the handles are first produced separately and then have to be moulded onto the actual ceramic vessels in a complicated further process, a process and a device are proposed here by means of which the handles can be simultaneously produced and joined to the ceramic vessels. For this purpose, essentially a calibrating device is used, which has an individually movable pressing piston (7) and pressing cylinder (4) and, after the moulding on of the handle (13) with the simultaneous further shaping thereof, can be removed again from the wall of the ceramic vessel (3). <IMAGE>
