A dielectric for use in ozone generators, which is applied in the form of a layer to a tube-shaped or plate-shaped, self-supporting metal body which forms an electrode, is composed of a ceramic powder homogeneously distributed in a plastic. The plastic used is preferably a phenylmethylpolysiloxane or a modified silicone and the ceramic powder used is in particular a ceramic having a linear temperature dependence and a relatively high dielectric constant.
