PURPOSE:To obtain the titled steel sheet and strip having small anisotropy and excellent quality, by casting a steel having especially low contents of C, P, Ni, N, etc., hot-rolling the cast steel, descaling the hot-rolled steel, cold-rolling the descaled steel with a reduction ratio in a fixed range, and then finish-annealing the cold-rolled steel. CONSTITUTION:A steel containing, by wt%, up to 0.070% C, up to 1.0% Si, up to 3.0% Mn, up to 0.040% P, up to 0.030% S, 16.0-19.0% Co, 6.0-9.5% Ni and up to 0.2% N is cast and then worked as follows: After the cast steel is heated in a heating oven, it is rolled in a conventional manner. Annealing is omitted. After the steel is descaled, it is cold-rolled with a reduction ratio above 45% but its upper limit being defined by the formula. The cold-rolled steel is finish-annealed. The resultant austenitic stainless steel sheet and strip have small anisotropy, so that their earing ratio is 6% or lower. |
