PURPOSE:To obtain optimal printings by a method in which whether the gap between the tip face of a printing head and a platen is more than a given width is detected, and on the basis of the detection results, the conditions for exciting a magnet coil in the printing hed are changed. CONSTITUTION:Where the number of a printing paper 21 is 1-2 and the gap between a printing head 11 and a platen 16 is adjusted by a knob 17, since a width detection switch 19 is OFF, the gate of and circuit 34 is opened, clock pulse from a clock pulse generator 31 is counted by counters 32 and 33 (b), the signal like (c) is output, the output of the counter 32 is supplied to the counter 38, print timing signal like (d) is output, and the printing head is driven. On the other hand, where the number of printing paper is 3-5, the gap between the platen 16 and the printing head 11 is adjusted according to the number of the printing papers, and the printing head 11 is driven at a long-period drive pulse with a long timing width by the drive circuit 40. |
