PURPOSE:To remarkably enhance the corrosion resistance of Zr processed product, in preparing the Zr processed product from Zr sponge, by carring out solid solution treatment at a specific temp. posterior to hot rolling and prior to cold working in a process. CONSTITUTION:Plural Zr sponge blocks are welded by a welding machine and the welded sponge is melted and cast in a vacuum melting furnace. The obtained ingot is subjected to hot forging and hot rollig is further carried out. In the next process, the resulting rolled material is heated to 800-1,000 deg.C to carry out solid solution treatment and, thereafter, cold working, annealing, pickling and polishing processes are carried out to obtain a Zr processed product. By carrying out solid solution treatment as referred above, impurities precipitated in Zr in a segregated form are sufficiently diffused and affect due to the presence of impurities is reduced and corrosion resistance is remarkably increased. |
