PURPOSE:To delay the time for an analog electric signal, by converting the analog electric signal into an ultrasonic signal to store it temporarily in terms of space, detecting the stored ultrasonic signal at an appropriate time by means of a beam and then controlling both the time and the position of detection. CONSTITUTION:An analog electric signal is applied to an input terminal 11, and the squaring compression is carried out by a square root arithmetic circuit 12. The electric signal subjected to the squaring compression is fed to an amplitude modulating circuit 15 to receive the modulation of amplitude. Then this signal is applied to an oscillator 4 provided within an acoustic-optical cell 1 and then radiated in the form of an ultrasonic signal 8. While the control signal produced from a control circuit 19 is distributed to an oscillator 5 after the modulation of the pulse amplitude given through a modulating circuit 18. Thus the oscillator 5 radiates an ultrasonic beam which crosses the ultrasonic signal within the cell 1. The plane wave light passed through the region where the two ultrasonic beams are superposed oneach other has a 2-dimensional phase change and accordingly has a 2-dimensional diffracted image on the image-forming plane when it is focused through a lens 21. This diffracted image is detected through a filter 22. |
