PURPOSE:To permit the use of small-size motor as well as reduce the consumption of electric power by a method in which a drive motor is provided on the printer body side, and a carriage is moved and a type wheel is turned through a clutch mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A type wheel 4 supported on a shaft 3 is mounted on a carriage 2 movable in parallel with a platen 1. On the other hand, a wire 13 wound around pulleys 9 and 10 is laid on a pulley 14 fixed to the shaft 3 and also a wire 15 wound around pulleys 11 and 12 is fixed to the carriage 2 at its both ends. A clutch mechanism 16 attached to a step motor 17 is provided to the pulleys 10 and 12 is such a way as to enable both the pulleys to be driven independently. Thus, in such a device, the carriage 2 can be moved in a given manner through the pulley 12 by switching the driving force of single motor 17 by the clutch mechanism 16, and on the other hand, the desired types 4a of a type wheel 4 are selected through the pulley 10 and printed. |
