PURPOSE:To connect cut parts of a linear pattern in a smooth shape closest to its original shape, by using attribute numerals of picture elements constituting the linear pattern, and employing an interpolating method. CONSTITUTION:To picture elements in an picture storage device 1 which correspond to positions of given linear patterns in group, their attribute numerals are assigned. Then, a terminal point detector 2 detects the terminal point of the pattern; and the attribute numeral of the terminal is stored in a register 3 and its coordinate values are stored in a register 4. A calculator 5 for coordinate values of a picture element expected to be concatenated sends the coordinate values of adjacent picture elements to be concatenated to registers 6-1-6-n. An interpolator 10 calculates the attribute numerals of the stored coordinate values by an interpolating means and stores them in registers 11-1-11-n. Then, a comparator compares the contents of the register 3 with those of the register 11 to select coordinate values closest to the contents of the register 3 among contents of the register 6, and stores them in a register 13 together with the attribute numerals. A picture element writing device 14 reads concatenated picture-element coordinate values and attribute numerals stored in the register 13 and writes them in the storage device 1. |
