<p>The metering cup includes a disc assembly (12) at the base of a hopper (10) having a screen-type impeller (18) driven by a ground engaging wheel with the impeller formed from expanded metal or the like. An adjustable inlet (19, 21) communicates with the hopper (10), and the air conveyor conduit (11) of an air seeder, communicates with the impeller approximately 180 DEG from the inlet. The adjustable inlet controls the amount of material passing from the hopper through the inlet and the speed of the ground engaging wheel controls the speed of rotation of the impeller and hence the flow of material to the air seeder conduit. The angular displacement of 180 DEG between the inlet and the air seeder conduit, prevents a flow of material, particularly fine material directly to the air seeder regardless of the forward speed of the air seeder. <IMAGE></p> |
