Beta-glycosyl C-nucleoside compound of the formula (Excluded 2-deazaoxoformycin) and HCL salts thereof <CHEM> wherein X is NR10, S or O R10 is H or alkyl with 1 to 6 carbon atoms. R1 is <CHEM> or SR8, or OR8 wherein R6, R7 and R8 are independently selected from H or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; or R2 is H, NH2, <CHEM> SR12, or OR12 wherein R16, R11 and R12 are independently selected from H or alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms; R3 is OH, SR13, or OR9; R4 is OH, SR14, or OR15; R9, R13, R14 and R15 are individually selected from C1-C6 alkyl and C1 to C6 acyl; R5 is OH or H, R min 5 is OH or H with the proviso that at least one of R5 or R min 5 is H.
