PURPOSE:To obtain luminance distributions which are good for practicability over a relatively wide visual field range and to obviate the generation of color shafts and color shading by selecting the shape of the lens faces of lenticular lens with respect to a transmission type screen. CONSTITUTION:The sectional shape of semicircular lenses is selected to the curve between the threshold curves Z1 and Z2 expressed by specific formulae. The screen gain for the curve Z1 and the screen gain for the curve Z2 has relatively large luminances both in the range of 0-+ or -40 deg. directional angles. If the sectional shape is selected to the curve between said curves, the good luminance distributions are obtained. Since the characteristics of colors can be stabilized by containing diffusing materials in the semicircular lenses and diverting each beam of light despite the difference in the incident angles from plural light sources, the screen for color images having a sufficiently wide effective visual field range for practicability is obtained. |
