PURPOSE:To fix toner images thoroughly without requiring large linear pressure in a method of pressing recording paper stuck with the toner images and fixing the toner images by swelling and softening the toners of the toner images with a solvent. CONSTITUTION:Mists or vapor of a solvent is supplied onto the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 which is developed with toner images, with a solvent applying device 7, or the mists or vapor of the solvent is supplied to the surface of recording paper P transferred with the toner images, with a solvent applying device 8 to swell and soften the toners of the toner images before the paper P is pressurized with a pressure fixing roller 6, whereby the toner images are fixed thoroughly under the linear pressure of the roller 6 ranging to 5-20kg/cm. |
