1298109 Carbon BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 22 April 1970 [23 April 1969] 19239/70 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] Hydrocarbons are separated from carbon black contained therein by passing them into an indirectly heated bed of petroleum coke granules, maintained at or above the final boiling point of the hydrocarbons, in a stirred vessel and withdrawing the hydrocarbon vapour formed and the coke formed, the vessel used being made of an austenitic chromium-nickel steel and having internal projections such as ribs or humps. The carbon black-containing hydrocarbons contain 15-50 wt. per cent of carbon black and are produced in the quenching of cracked gas containing olefins, acetylenes and/or synthesis gas and by-product carbon black with pure naphthalene or with aromatic hydrocarbons boiling from 200-390‹ C. |
