One-pass electrostatic separation of kieserite and sylvite in rock salt mixts. with production of high-grade concentrates of either in a second pass, is achieved by supplementing the known organic additives with dry finely ground inorganic ammonium salts, as follows: 1. Separation of kieserite from sylvite/rock salt by addn of (NH4)2CO3 or NH4NH2CO2 (ammonium carbamate). (2) Separation of sylvite from kieserite/rock salt by addn. of NH4HCO3 or (NH4)2HPO4. (3) Separation of kieserite from sylvite in a concentrate of the two by addn. of NH4-salts, as well as acidic or basic inorganic salts or anhydrides, e.g. borax, soda, silicic acid. The NH4-salts are added in the ratio of 50-1000 (50-250) g per ton of salt mixt. The separations have been successfully carried out at 32 degrees C and 20% r.h.
|
