<p>Section wires for oven steel fabric are rolled with hard metal rollers by exerting axial pressure for pre-stressing the hard metal rollers to compensate for the forces which take effect on the rollers on shaping the rolling stock. This largely suppresses damaging tensile forces which can arise in the hard metal, being based on the recognition that hard metal is likely to fracture under strong tensile forces, but that it is highly resistant to compressive strains.</p> |
