PURPOSE:To discriminate the presence or absence of flaws more surely by transmitting ultrasonic waves to a steel plate, detecting the level states of the waves reflected from the surfaces of the steel plate, transmitting ultrasonic waves to the steel plate and detecting the level states of the waves transmitted therethrough. CONSTITUTION:A pair of transmitters and receivers 29, 30 are provided to an ultrasonic flaw detector, so that ultrasonic waves are transmitted from a probe 22 toward a steel plate 21 by the operation of the one transmitter and receiver 20 and that the waves reflected from the plate 21 are received through a probe 22. Ultrasonic waves are transmitted from a probe 23 toward the plate 21 by the operation of the other transmitter and receiver 30, and the waves reflected from the plate 21 and transmitted therethrough are received through the probe 23. The presence or absence of any flaw is discriminated surely by detecting the level states of the transmitted waves. |
