[Class 80 (ii).] The engaging-spring of a motor-vehicle &c. clutch is formed as a flexible plate or plates 28 carrying the presser-plate 26 and shaped to form a housing wall partially enclosing the slidable driven plate 20 in a recess 14 of the flywheel 2. The spring plate 28 may be in the form of dished quadrantal segments bolted to the flywheel and slotted to form tongues 32, the presser-plate 26 having bosses 36 engaging recesses 34 in the adjacent edges of the segments and being secured thereto by nuts 37 on bolts 48 supporting also adjustable abutment-members 46 for the radial declutching- levers 38. These levers are fulcrummed at 40 on plates 42 bolted to the flywheel and are acted on by a collar 54. The collar, as shown, moves inwardly for declutching, but the parts may be modified for use with an outwardlymoving collar. |
