PURPOSE:To decide the flocculation reaction of settled particles easily and accurately by feeding test liq. contg. particles into a vessel for decision provided with a sloped bottom surface formed regularly with level differences permitting the formation of stable base layers for said particles. CONSTITUTION:A vessel 5 for decision is formed with a pipeline 8 of a rectangular shape in section between an inflow port 6 and an outflow port 7. A sloped passage 9 is provided to a part of the pipeline 8, and level differences 10 are formed on the bottom surface of said passage 9. If test liq. contg. particles is kept still for a constant time after said liq. is introduced through the port 6 into the pipeline 8, stable root layers are formed in the recesses of the level differences 10 when particles are going to flocculate, and the particles falling onto said layers flocculate and deposite. When the particles do not flocculate, only the particles of the root layers remain on the slope, and the other particles deposit on the lower part of the slope. Therefore the flocculation and non-flocculation are decided easily and accurately be measuring the difference in the concn. of the slopes.
