PURPOSE:To prevent the variance of luminance for an image pickup device using an electrostatic induction transistor image sensor, by controlling the exposure time of said image sensor by means of a shutter. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic induction transistor (SIT) image sensor 44 includes numbers of SIT image cells which are arrayed with each picture element unit, and a shutter 43 is set at the incident surface of the sensor 44. An access is given to the sensor 44 after opening the shutter 43 for a desired time. Thus the exposure time can be set equal to all picture elements of the sensor 44. As a result, the picture signal free from the variance of luminance can be obtained. |
