PURPOSE:To make the production of a large-sized composite steel material having no defects in the core part possible in the stage of combining and forming plural pieces of thick-walled steel materials by welding to a large-sized steel material by sandwiching thin-walled steel materials partially between the steel materials and welding the thin-walled steel materials by filling molten steel therebetween. CONSTITUTION:Plural thin-walled steel sheets 4 are sandwiched between plural thick-walled steel materials 1, 2, 3. The space parts 5 between the opposite surfaces of the plates 1, 2, 3 and the side surfaces of the materials 4 are welded and fixed by molten steel. The tensile strength in the longitudinal and broadside directions of the composite steel material formed in such a way is exactly the same as the tensile strength of the case in which the entire area of the surfaces of the thick-walled steel materials is welded. The large-sized composite steel material having no casting defects in the core parts such as the large-sized steel material produced by casting as a cast steel product is easily obtained. |
