PURPOSE:To produce a long-sized thin metallic sheet of superior surface condition in the stage of ejecting molten metal through a nozzle onto a roll by providing a molten metal receiving plate on the side opposite from the rotating direction of the roll and forming a molten metal well on the roll. CONSTITUTION:A crucible 2 provided with a nozzle 3 at the bottom end is mounted on a roll 1 which is rotated in an arrow direction by a horizontally revolving shaft, on the side opposite to the revolving direction of the roll 1 from above the perpendicular passing through the center of the roll 1. Further, a molten metal receiving plate 7 is provided on the roll 1 on the side of the nozzle 3 opposite to the rotating direction of the roll, and a metal 4 is inserted into the crucible 4, and is melted by high-frequency induction heating or by an electric furnace. The inside of the crucible 2 is pressurized to eject the molten metal through the nozzle 3 onto the roll 1, whereby the molten metal is cooled and a thin metallic sheet 6 is produced. The inclusion of gas between the molten metal and the roll 1 is a blocked by the molten metal well 8 formed in this case and the surface condition of the thin strip 6 is improved. |
