<p>PURPOSE:To prolong the lifetime of a magnetic head, by providing a shifting means which shifts the magnetic head between a position touching a medium face and a shunting position and accordingly shunting the head from the medium face at the area where no reading is required. CONSTITUTION:When a traveler's check issuing machine is set in a queuing mode, a magnetic head 8a is pressed down with the force of a spring 9h to be pressed to the paper surface with a prescribed level of pressure. In this case, a shutter 9a is also put down and locked. Then the traveler's check issuing machine is active, and the roll paper is rolled out. Thus the head 8a reads a magnetic ink mark, and then the roll paper is cut by a cutter 7a. With this cut signal, a plunger magnet M2 works. The head 8a is detached from the paper surface as soon as the shutter 9a is opened. The cut check is carried toward an arrow A and then discharged through an issuing port after passing the part under the shutter 9a.</p> |
