1300504 Lathe tools DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE AG 19 April 1971 [31 Jan 1970] 20596/71 Heading B3T A reversible cutting insert 1 for a copy turning tool has two parallel rhombic faces 16, 17 with cutting noses 8, 9 at diametrically opposed corners, a first cutting edge 2 or 3 adjoining each cutting nose and having a chip breaker groove 11 or 10, the side face 4 or 5 of the inset which extends from the first cutting edge lying perpendicular to the cutting faces 16, 17 whereas the side face 6 or 7 which extends from a second cutting edge 20 or 21 adjoining each nose lies at clearance angle 28 or 29. The inset may be of hard metal and has a central hole 18 for clamping purposes. Clamping may be by a lever clamp or clamping eccentric located on the tool shank 26 and projecting into the hole 18. The tool 26 may have a recess 30 with one undercut face 22 and a plain face 23 for locating the tip and the faces 22, 23 may be slidably adjustable by displaceable slide or key means, which may also serve to clamp the tip against a peg projecting from the base of the recess into the hole in the tip. |
