PURPOSE:To increase both the corrosion resistance and the lubricity of a titled recording medium, by reforming the surface of a magnetic layer with adsorption of the higher fatty acid metallic salt. CONSTITUTION:A thin film magnetic layer of a ferromagnetic metal such as cobalt (alloy), etc. on a substrate of a polyester film, etc. by a vacuum vapor deposition process, an electroplating process, etc. This substrate is then dipped into an aqueous solution (about 0.0001-10g/l concentration) of water-soluble higher fatty acid metallic salt such as sodium stearate, etc. and then washed thoroughly with pure water. Thus a metallic thin film magnetic recording medium containing a magnetic layer coated with the higher fatty acid metallic salt is obtained. |
