PURPOSE:To provide a flux to be charged to a converter which can avert bridging in a disperser advantageously by consisting said flux of a powder refining material having a specified grain size range and grain size distribution respectively and is introduced into the furnace by using a refining gas as a carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:A powder refining material consisting of CaO, dolomite, etc. having grain size distributions wherein <=0.1mm. grain size portion is >=90% and <=0.044mm. portion is <=45% is used for the flux to be charged into a converter. Said refining material is once introduced through a piping 1 for accepting said material into a dispenser 2. When the inside of the dispenser 2 is kept pressurized with a piping 4 for pressurization and the converter is ready to receive the charge, the above-described powder refining material is blown together with O2 as a carrier gas onto the melt surface through a blowing piping 7 out through a top blowing lance 8 according to the need for blowing. By the use of such powder refining material, the fluidity in the dispenser 2 is improved, the stable blowing is made possible and the bridging particularly in the dispenser 2 is averted surely. |
