Pyrimido[1,6-a]indole derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 is phenyl which may be substituted in the p position by alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanesulphinyl or halogen, thienyl or pyridyl which may be substituted by alkyl, R2 is alkoxymethyl or carboxymethyl, Ph denotes 1,2-phenylene which may be substituted in the p position in relation to the N atom by alkoxy or halogen, and alk is vinylidene, or salts thereof, are prepared by a number of known processes. The compounds (I) and their salts possess an antiinflammatory and/or analgesic effect and can be used as antirheumatic agents.
