<p>In this cabinet, facilities are provided for the mechanical packing of a number of culture tubes which can then be stored and transported in the cabinet. As required, the tubes can be inoculated in sterile conditions. The cabinet comprises a casing made of sterilisable material. Culture tubes ready for inoculation are packed into the casing prior to sterilisation. The casing has an access trap and a pair of captive gloves which hands can enter from the exterior. Via the gloves, manual subculturing can be carried out in sterile conditions. The case pref. has a base in the form of a deep tray of rigid material. The remainder of the case is a hood of transparent material which can be secured removably on to the tray. The hood can be of rigid or flexible material. The cabinet is for subculturing or inoculating a series of culture tubes 'in vitro' under sterile conditions. The culture tubes can be prepd. and set up inside the cabinet and the whole assembly then sterilised in an industrial establishment. Cabinets can then be distributed to individuals who require no controlled atmos. conditions other than the cabinet itself.</p> |
