PURPOSE:To improve purification performance of exhaust gas and to reduce fuel consumption, by partially using exhaust gas and fuel, producing synthetic gas contg. much hydrogen, carbon monoxide, etc. through action of exhaust heat, catalyzer, far-infrared radiation, etc. and mixing this synthetic gas into a lean mixture. CONSTITUTION:A branch line 15 is connected to a main fuel line 14, in which fuel in a fuel tank 12 is fed to a carburetor 2 by a pump 13, and fuel in the branch line 15 is fed under pressure in a synthesizer chamber 7 through a flow control valve 10. Exhaust gas from an engine 5 is partially introduced into this synthesizer chamber 7 from a passage 8 through a flow control valve 11, to produce synthetic gas, much contained with hydrogen, carbon monoxide and steam, from the before said fuel. This synthetic gas is introduced into a mixing chamber 3 through a pressure control valve 9 and passage 16, completely mixed with a lean mixture from the carburetor 2, and then fed to the engine 5. Each flow control valve 10, 11 is controlled through oil hydraulic lines 20, 17 operated in accordance with depression of an accelerator pedal 19. |
