For the aerostatic pivot bearing of a yarn monitor in textile machines, it is proposed to produce the bearing housing (2) from a material of low coefficient of friction and of high dimensional stability or to line it with this. For this, there is formed in the bearing housing (2) an annular gap (17) located opposite the feed bore (13) which is intended for the pressure fluid supplied from the bearing journal (1) and which is covered by a resiliently pressed-down piston (19), as long as the yarn monitor does not need to perform a control function. In a preferred embodiment, the lining of the bearing housing (2) is obtained by means of axially pressed-in bushes having a spacing between the mutually confronting end faces and forming the annular gap (17), into which the piston (19) projects. The chosen construction affords an increased switching accuracy and an easier and cheaper maintenance of the yarn monitor when wear occurs on the bearing surfaces of the pivot bearing. <IMAGE>
