The invention relates to an automatic, double-acting excess-pressure safety device for protecting the elastic measuring member of plate-spring differential manometers. The aim of the invention is to produce at minimum cost the double-sided protective function for the measuring member and transmission and indicating system up to the full static operating pressure. According to the invention this is achieved with a double-acting valve which is arranged in the centre of the measuring member and at the same time assumes the kinematic output function of the measuring member. The kinematic output element (1) carries the valve disc (2) which is pressed by the spring (3) onto a stop seat. It preloads the sealing element (5) and determines the zero setting of the output element (1) relative to the measuring member (9) in the valve seat (8). The compression spring (6) pulls the valve disc via the subassembly (7-1-4-3) against the inner cone of the valve seat (8). The stops (10 and 11) block the output element (1) in the zero and end position. Excess pressure in the "-" chamber causes the valve to open by forcing the split valve cone (2) from its seat, which the sealing element (5) follows. In the event of excess pressure in the "+" chamber, the valve opening is initiated by the stop (11) after the stroke of the measuring member is exceeded. <IMAGE>
