In multiple-winding reversing machines, there is the problem of synchronising the speed of the empty winding core with the speed of the cloth web and the speed of the full winding core so accurately that the cloth web is held under uniform tension in every phase of the roll change. This problem has hitherto been solved by means of complicated synchronising controls which, however, work with insufficient accuracy. In the new multiple-winding reversing machine, there is provided between the winding cores and the winding drives a freewheel which ensures perfect synchronisation between the cloth-web speed and the empty winding core, without complicated control measures.
