In this test device for transmissions, the transmission to be tested is arranged with its two power outputs between two power transmission arms, which transmit the transmission output power via linear traction means to a common shaft about which also the power transmission arms are arranged to be pivotable, this common shaft having at least one brake element for power simulation. For universal adaptation of the power transmission arms to the various spatial positions of the power outputs of different transmissions, the power transmission arms are, in a development of the invention, constructed from two parts connected by swivel joints. To ensure the universal application of the test device, the power transmission arms are furthermore arranged to pivot with the common shaft through 90 angular degrees in a plane in order in this way to adapt to the various arrangements of the power outputs of the different transmissions, transverse or parallel to their power input.
