Building block for erecting a heat-insulated building wall, having a cubic load-bearing element and an insulating panel which is connected thereto and is arranged parallel to an outer wall of the cubic load-bearing element. Said building block is intended to be easily constructed, but resistant to fracturing. Its insulating extent is intended to be adaptable to requirements in each case. For this purpose, the insulating panel is fitted on an outer wall of the load-bearing element and configured as a continuous, mineral layer of masonry block, which layer, besides serving as insulation, also serves as a bearing layer for façade-forming elements, layers, etc..
