Illuminated sign

An illuminated sign is proposed which has a light source, at least one transparent end plate, a reflecting optical system and an electric switching device. The light source is arranged in such a way that the distance between the light source and the end plate corresponds approximately to the depth of the luminaire. The reflecting optical system has at least one reflector which extends over the entire width of the luminaire and extends from virtually the upper and/or lower edge of the end plate as far as the full depth of the luminaire. The reflector and the bounding surfaces of the luminaire form a cavity which is used to accommodate the electric switching device.
