The unit includes sections for filtration, sedimentation and flotation, all in the same vessel. The sedemtations section is between the flotation section and the filtration section. They are sepd. by dividing walls. The level in each section is controlled. - Water which possibly has been given an initial cleaning enters the vessel. There the pH can be adjusted and chemicals added to react with dissolved contaminants, to form floc's. The water and flocs pass through a channel to the flotation Air bubbles enter to move the flocs to the surface. However particles settle in the redentation section or on the filter. The flocs collect as a sludge on the surface, thus is removed by scrapers. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8502) |
