Use of polyethylene imine as absorbant for odorous substances, in particular fatty acids, aldehydes and ketones. The degree of polymerization of the polyethylene imine used is selected so that the polyethylene imine is, on the one hand, toxicologically harmless and preferably exhibits, on the other hand, a sufficient solubility in an aqueous medium. In a preferred embodiment, aqueous solutions of polyethylene imine having a concentration rate of 0.1 to 10%, are used. Another preferred utilization consists in impregnating with polyethylene imine materials which are later contacted with odorous substances. The invention is applicable to cosmetology, body hygiene, technical deodorization and air sweetening. A particularly important field of application of the invention is the deodorization of purification plants. |
